Sunset in India - retreat location

“Sometimes the only way to move forward is to retreat.” Anon

I go on retreat every year and find it such a powerful antidote to the fast pace of our modern lives. We’re pulled in so many directions, it’s very easy to lose perspective and feel a little lost.

Taking a step back from the hustle and bustle from time to time can really help. It’s impossible to see things clearly if we’re standing too close; sometimes we need to take a few steps back to gain clarity.

Removing ourselves entirely from our typical day-to-day reality gives us an opportunity to do things differently. Disconnecting for a while allows us to deepen our connection to ourselves and to our values. Instead of fighting to keep up, a focused time of learning allows us to shift our perspective and embed those good habits we never seem to find time for at home.

Embed new habits to support your wellbeing
With everything we’re juggling in our lives, it’s not always that easy to make a change. Building a new habit requires time and effort in the beginning. We rarely, if ever, get it right first time. For example, when I decided to try the Couch to 5K challenge it took me a while to get into the swing of it. The first run was ok, but what should I do with my phone? It took a few attempts before I’d got over the hurdles that could potentially trip me up.

When we have a lot going on in our lives, finding the energy needed to try something new can be challenging. But when we’re on holiday or retreat, we have time and space.

So what better time to introduce a new practice or habit?

If we can build a really strong foundation when we have the space, we’ll have a much better chance of sticking with it once we return to our normal lives.

Care to join me?
If you’d like to give yourself the gift of retreat, there are still places available on my retreats in Morocco in July and in India in December. Together we will deepen - or begin, if you’re just starting out - our yoga and mindfulness practice so we can return to our lives feeling more empowered, more resilient and more resourced.

You’ll find more information about both retreats here. To secure the early bird discount for the India retreat, make sure you book your place and pay the deposit by 30th April 2019. If you have any questions, please let me know.

With love,

Mia

PS I took the photo above last time I was at the location for our retreat in India. It really is a beautiful place and I’m so looking forward to sharing it with you.
